Yes. OpenAI announced it on 8 September 2026 — branded ChatGPT Images 2.5 in the product and GPT Image 2.5 in the API. Pages still describing it as a rumour were written before that date.
Here it is 50 credits a run on your account, with no ChatGPT Plus needed, and Pro and Max run it with no credit cost per image. Inside ChatGPT it follows your plan limits. The free one on Veida AI is Veida AI Image v1 on the homepage, once you sign in.

OpenAI prices the API by token: $30 per million image-output tokens for Flare and Sunburst alike, $15 on the Batch API. On this site it is 50 credits a run at any resolution, the same as GPT Image 2, and unlimited on Pro and Max. The estimate shows before you commit and a failed run is refunded.
Flare is the default: the same quality and editing gains, built for volume and speed. Sunburst spends longer on generation to reach an extra level of precision for detailed work. Both are API models; ChatGPT does not expose the choice.
